BIOGRAPHY
Alan Jackson is a highly experienced freelance public speaker with over 2,000 hours of formal public speaking engagements spanning 25 years. Alan has presented to a variety of audiences, including cruise passengers, firms of financial advisers, business networking environments and speakers clubs. These presentations have been delivered to audiences ranging from 50 to 350 attendees. Alan is now a retired Financial Adviser and focusses his business on speaking about various aviation subjects, and hosting and compering business network meetings.

Alan has been an aviation enthusiast since the age of 6. He is a keen student flyer, logging over 100 flying hours to date. It is this personal insight into flight that gives Alan his ability to hold and excite an audience when giving his aviation presentations. Alan delivers talks on mid-20th-century aircraft, the pilots who flew them, the role of women in aviation and captivating stories from wartime and peacetime. These presentations are based on true stories of heroism amongst men and women both in military and private aviation settings, all focussed on the first half of the 20th century. With his engaging style and wealth of expertise, Alan is sure to keep audiences of all ages interested and entertained.

Alan has been an avid cyclist since the turn of the century, and regularly cycles 60-70 miles each week. He cycled from London to Paris in 2013, and in 2024 cycled from London to Cheltenham and back as part of the 2024 London 100 event sponsored by Ford UK.

The Spitfire Chronicles Part 1: The Saviour of Buckingham Palace.
In this presentation, Alan presents the incredible story of Ray Holmes – a Spitfire pilot who flew some of the most dangerous sorties of World War II. Alan focusses on one particular mission which tested Ray’s courage and skill to the limits, shedding light on the bravery and sacrifice of one of the many airborne heroes who fought for our freedom.

The Spitfire Chronicles Part 2: The Prince and the Junkers
Alan shares the remarkable story of a Spitfire pilot who found himself in a terrifying high-altitude encounter with a German Junkers in the summer of 1942. Drawing on first-hand accounts and historical records, Alan explores the dramatic events which unfolded that day, and the incredible bravery displayed by this pilot in the face of mortal danger.

The Spitfire chronicles Part 3: Lost and Found – the mystery of the Norwegian Spitfire
In this presentation Alan profiles Flt Lt Alastair ‘Sandy’ Gunn, a Spitfire pilot whose flying prowess met its ultimate test when his aircraft was shot down over Norway in 1942, leading to his capture by German forces and later his participation in a mass escape from Stalag Luft 3, immortalised in the film ‘The Great Escape’, 21 years later.

In this enlightening talk, Alan presents the role of women in the Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA) during World War II. I presented to Saga cruise passengers in January 2019 (Canaries), and Fred Olsen later that year (Bordeaux) when I was a financial adviser, and now give Powerpoint-driven talks on aviation heroes from the early 20th century. I currently have 5x45min talks and a further talk later in 2025..
