BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Anna Kouremenos is an archaeologist specializing in the study of identity and material culture in the Greco-Roman world. Recently, she has also conducted historical and archaeological research on the early medieval world. After receiving her BA and MA in Anthropology from The City University of New York, she moved to the UK to pursue a doctorate in Archaeology at the University of Oxford which was awarded to her in December 2013. Her research explores aspects of social, cultural, and island identities and focuses on bringing interdisciplinary perspectives to the field of archaeology.

Currently she is a research fellow at the University of Tübingen in Germany, conducting research on migration in the Greek and Roman worlds and on the subject of national narratives. Additional interests include art, film history, traveling, cooking, and the reception of antiquity from the Renaissance to the present. Dr. Kouremenos is the editor of four volumes and numerous articles.

CRUISE HISTORY / EXPERIENCE
I conduct research on islands in the Mediterranean and have recently branched out to study islanders and insularity in a global context. In addition to extensive archaeological experience, I have experience with cruises in the Greek islands which I enjoyed very much.
