Jonathan Fischer is a Full Sail University graduate with a degree in Music Production and a classically trained tenor who performed with Opera Omaha. His dynamic career extends to the sea, where he serves as an Able Seaman with Crowley Petroleum on the Coastal Reliance, managing galley operations and crew logistics. A seasoned DJ and Assistant Cruise Director, he has entertained on Princess Cruise Lines and Norwegian Cruise Line's Pride of America, blending his passion for music with his seafaring life.

1. The Maritime History of the Pacific West Coast
This presentation explores the development of maritime trade and shipping routes along the Pacific West Coast, from the era of early explorers to modern times. It delves into the pivotal role of key ports like Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles in shaping the region’s economic and cultural evolution. As a current mariner with firsthand experience working along the West Coast, I provide a unique perspective, blending historical insights with contemporary stories of life at sea. Attendees will gain an understanding of the impact of indigenous cultures, early settlers, and the growth of maritime industries like fishing, whaling, and petrol shipping.

2. Music and Maritime Life: A Cultural Journey from Sea Shanties to Modern Tunes
This engaging presentation takes guests on a cultural journey through the music that has shaped maritime life along the Pacific West Coast. From traditional sea shanties of the Age of Exploration to contemporary music genres influenced by coastal life, the session provides a unique look at the musical evolution of the region. Drawing on my background as a professional DJ and musician who has entertained on cruise ships, I share personal stories and live demonstrations to illustrate how music has historically united sailors and continues to bring people together at sea today.

3. The Melodies of Mexico: Music and Culture from the Aztecs to Today
Dive into the vibrant musical history of Mexico, from the ancient sounds of Aztec instruments to the energetic beats of mariachi and son jarocho. This presentation explores how these rich musical traditions have traveled along the Pacific Coast, influencing cultural landscapes far beyond Mexico’s borders. With my experience in music production and as a classically trained musician, I will demonstrate how traditional Mexican music has been adapted into modern styles. This presentation will captivate guests with live or recorded music examples, offering a deeper appreciation for Mexico's musical heritage.
