BIOGRAPHY
Destined to spend life as an engineer, Pip took on the world of music and the media instead. His colourful, jack-of-all-trades career has included performing with The Beatles, working in cabaret in the West End and on cruise ships with Joe Loss, followed by a spell in publishing and advertising. Returning to showbiz in the 1980’s, he devised and produced hit UK TV shows such as 'A Touch of Frost' and 'The Darling Buds of May', starring David Jason and Catherine Zeta-Jones, for which he won an Ivor Novello Award for the music.

Pip is currently offering a series of lectures entitled "The Golden Age of Song" which pays tribute to the lives, words and music of Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter and George Gershwin - four men who defined popular music during the first half of the last century. A 5th lecture about Richard Rodgers has also been added to this series.

Songs featured include: ‘Smoke Gets in Your Eyes’, ‘The Way You Look Tonight’, ‘All the Things You Are’, ‘Embraceable You’, ‘In the Still of the Night’, ‘Bill’, ‘Alexander’s Ragtime Band’, ‘So In Love’, ‘Someone to Watch Over Me’, ‘White Christmas’, ‘The Folks Who Live on the Hill’, ‘Begin the Beguine’, ‘Summertime’, ‘Rhapsody in Blue’… and many, many more.

Lavishly accompanied with slides and videos of their lives and music – with occasional illustrations on the piano - these talks have proved popular with audiences of all nationalities.
