BIOGRAPHY
Anthony Coutts-Britton is an experienced battlefield guide and history lecturer, specialising in the First and Second World Wars and the Napoleonic period. His other interest areas encompass the English Civil War, the Roman Army, the Viking Golden Age and Political and Social History of the United Kingdom. He served in the Army, commanding a battalion of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and in staff posts for Operations, Human Resource management and resource planning.

His second career as an international civil servant in NATO included resource management and political posts in Allied Command Europe. He held a senior post in the Partnership for Peace Programme for its first five years, dealing with the states of the former Warsaw Pact and the Neutral nations. His engagement in the political interface with the emerging democracies helped to enable the rapid expansion of NATO.

His battlefield touring encompasses commercial groups of all ages and high level organisations such as the Royal College of Defence Studies. He is a qualified Schools Guide, having worked mainly for the Royal British Legion taking tours to the Western Front and other battlefields on the Continent.

His lecture subjects continue to grow and he is regularly engaged as a dinner speaker and lecturer on a wide variety of subjects. He is a cruise ship speaker. From 2014 to 2019, he will offer talks on the centenary events of the first war. He will also offer WW2 75th Anniversary talks from 2015 to 2020. He has been appointed as a Resident Historian by Viking Ocean Cruises. He will be resident on their ships Viking Star, Viking Sea and Viking Sky commencing March 2017. Residency will be for upward of six weeks at a time.

He graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and the University of Maryland. He is a Fellow of the Guild of Battlefield Guides.
