BIOGRAPHY
Carol Wallace has been a creator for over three decades. She began her professional art career by being a gallery artist, represented by art galleries in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York City, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. Through the years she added to her repertoire by becoming a prolific commission artist, illustrator, and designer who licenses selected work to publishing companies and manufacturers of decorative giftware and fashion. She has been called on to teach at various national venues including on Holland American Cruise Line and has done art consultation since she has been involved in nearly every aspect of art. Carol's strength is her versatility, as she is able to achieve different looks, from dreamy impressionism and representational realism to whimsical illustrative works. She is able to work in different mediums (watercolor, acrylic, and pen & ink) and depict various subject matter. She particularly enjoys the challenge of working with her diverse clientele on custom projects.

Carol draws her inspiration from her extensive travel across the United States and abroad.

In 1997 Carol founded a far-reaching venture called Preserve America®, which is a combination of fine art and preservation of the history, culture, and tradition of Americana. The artist's photographic and writing skills dovetail with this project, which involves the creation of a unique line of two and three-paneled custom note cards and elaborate montage posters—The Preserve America Collection. Many historic landmarks, hotels, inns, and restaurants, museums, and towns are included in the Collection. The prints, reproduced from the commissioned originals, are considered to be "emissaries of history" by preservationists and museum curators. They bring heightened awareness of different regions and historic sites in America, serve as inspiration to others who want to preserve, and are a source of income for historic properties and stationery stores across the nation.

Notable projects include her two-sided 2' x 3' Country Stores of Vermont and 22" x 28" Historic Bucks County posters. Both are in the print collection of The Library of Congress. In 2004, Carol created the pen and ink drawing of the National World War ll Memorial, which was engraved onto the USPO First Day of Issue Covers for the dedication of the Memorial. The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Foundation had her original painting of Ellis Island printed as posters and note cards, which were sold online and used for other purposes. The concessionaire for the Statue of Liberty used the image as their official Christmas Card a few years ago and it is also featured on the Foundation's 2017 Membership Cards. The Foundation has the original in its collection.

Carol recently wrote and illustrated her first book, a satirical humor novella entitled "Daisy's Reality Show Adventure, which will be released in early 2017. Daisy, the central character, is known as "America's Ultimate Comfort Dog," who offers, through her life story, support and comfort in these tumultuous times. Early readers see similarities between characters in the book and current events involving real-life celebrities and politicians.

Carol's creativity has allowed her to embark upon other endeavors. She had coordinated several large grassroots-corporate-public service efforts where everyone works together for the good of the cause. Her best known work was for the 1982 State of Connecticut's Better Yet Connecticut TV ad campaign for heritage tourism. Carol was appointed by then-Governor William O'Neill to be the Executive Director of the entire ad campaign, starring Paul Newman, Art Carney, Skitch Henderson, Susan Saint James, Mario van Peebles, and others, to make this ad campaign the first of its kind ever done in America. She received the 1982 Connecticut Tourism Award for her efforts by Governor O'Neill. This was the inspiration for what Carol is doing now through Preserve America.

The artist is an elected signature member of the Society of Illustrators, Salmagundi Art Club, National League of American Pen Women, and listed in Who's Who in American Art. She is a member of the United States Coast Guard Art Program.

Carol resides in northwestern Connecticut with her husband, Rick. In her spare time she travels extensively, works on her various collections, enjoys photography, creative cooking, planning trips, working on her family's genealogy, burning music CDs for friends and family, and spending time with her children and four grandchildren, who live in North Carolina and Virginia. She is a Justice of the Peace in her town of Barkhamsted, Connecticut and occasionally performs weddings.

CLASSES & WORKSHOPS
1. I can teach passengers how to paint in watercolor, acrylic, pen & ink and mixed media and am diverse in the subject matter I can create.

2. As the Founder and Director of a national art/preservation venture in America, Preserve America, I will encourage students to understand the history of subject matter they paint.

3. I offer small-group meetings, where we can meet anywhere on the ship several times a day. Some I worked with in the past sat with me next to the pools and bars, going through the many things I could relate to them about art in general: Art supplies for fine art painting, how to get in galleries, illustration, how to license artwork and what venues are available. I would be able to show my three Web sites and how to add that to the needs of clientsle. As a published author (and illustrator) of a satirical humor book, I'd look forward to helping any future writers.

4. I invite those interested in any aspect of art to feel free to contact me throughout the cruise so they can return home with a new talent or some additional things to add to their repertoire.
