BIOGRAPHY
Dr. David L. Anderson is Professor of History Emeritus, California State University, Monterey Bay, and formerly a Senior Lecturer of National Security Affairs at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School. He has been a university professor of history and world affairs since 1974, a college dean, a visiting professor in China in 1994, a news analyst for a local television station, and an instructor for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. He is a specialist in the history of U.S. relations with East and Southeast Asia.

His teaching experience has included U.S. history, European history, Chinese history, East Asian history, the Cold War, Vietnam War, World War II, global politics, and American national security policy. He is the author or editor of 12 books and past president of the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations (SHAFR). He has received book awards from SHAFR and the American Library Association and was named Indiana Professor of the Year by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

He has a BA degree in history from Rice University and MA and PhD degrees in history from the University of Virginia. He was in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970 and received the Bronze Star for service in Vietnam. He has traveled to 58 countries.
