PRESENTATIONS
Big Tech, Big Data, and the New World of Digital Health
This lecture explores the exponential growth of Digital Health and the accompanying explosion of health data. There will be three significant shifts in the global health landscape. The first will be the move of the Big Tech Companies into healthcare, the second will be the monetization of consumer data and the creation of health data marketplaces, and the third will be the growth of Asia as a leader in Digital Health. The developments in Self-Sovereign Identity will allow individuals to monetize their health data in the future. Finally, we see the emergence of Asia as a powerhouse for the Digital Health of the future, with vast populations, mobile technology, and increasing adoption of wearable devices. Consumer focussed health care driven by data will change the institutional models of the past.

The 5th Industrial Revolution and Our Children’s Children
Columbus, Copernicus, Michelangelo, Medici were all celebrated explorers of their day – they navigated the unknown- They lived in an era when creative expression, literacy, and learning were revered. This age of humanism led to a resurgence of universities being built as centers of education and influence that propelled civilization toward modernity. The 5th Industrial Revolution (5IR) will be a new renaissance where humanism, civility, inclusivity, creativity and purpose will thrive alongside profit and digitally-enabled progress. This lecture will explore the 5th industrial revolution and its projected impact on society.

ChatGPT Took My Job!
Yes, it's true. ChatGPT and other generative AI tools are replacing certain jobs and reducing the human input for others. The future is hard to predict, but large generative AI models are here to stay, and people will probably increasingly turn to them for information. For example, if a student needs help solving a math problem now, they ask a tutor or a friend, or consult a textbook. In the future, they will ask a chatbot. The same goes for other expert knowledge, such as legal advice or medical expertise. What does this mean for work, education, and life? When man discovered fire, he had a tool with potential for great harm and great benefit. He had to learn to harness fire for human advancement and protect against its negative effects. As with generative AI now. This lecture will explain generative AI, where it will be used and how our future lives will be impacted.

Preparing for the Future
We need not be afraid of the future, for the future will be in our own hands. To join the first industrial revolution, you needed to open a factory or go and work. In the fifth industrial revolution all you need is a mobile phone. Virtual realities are likely to be key to providing meaning in the post-industrial world. Maybe these virtual realities will be generated inside computers. Maybe they will be generated outside computers, in the shape of new religions and ideologies. Maybe it will be a combination of the two. In any case, the end of work will not necessarily mean the end of meaning, because meaning is generated by imagining rather than by working. People in 2050 will be able to play deeper games and to construct more complex virtual worlds than in any previous time in history. How do we prepare? The human brain does not understand exponential growth, our society is not up for the pace of change. How do we prepare? How do we “unlearn” and learn to reframe and prepare for a digital future?

Digitalisation and the Environment
Science tells us that the planet is facing three crises: the climate change crisis, the pollution, and waste crisis, and the biodiversity loss crisis. The pandemic was a sober reminder from the planet to reconsider our relationship with nature as humanity’s destruction of wild spaces facilitates illnesses to jump from animals to humans. Digitalization will be crucial in achieving the SDGs by 2030. An assessment in 2020 found that 70 percent of 169 targets base-lining the world’s sustainability goals can be positively influenced through digital technologies.Digitalization is the transformation process from information to intelligence and the use of digital technology to transform social, economic, and cultural life, fundamentally changing the world. Above all, digitalization is a transformation in ways of thinking. This lecture covers digitalization and how technology is being used to address climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution and the opportunities to scale these technologies. It outlines some of the negative impacts on the environment from rapid digitalization, and discusses the opportunities to benefit from sustainable digitalization.

Applied Ethics in a Digital World
The exponential growth of technologies is transforming daily lives, creating vast amounts of data and accelerating the velocity of information flows globally, and the public are being confronted with changes that move faster than they can comprehend. There is an urgent need to analyze and communicate ethical issues of these advancements: to provide an analysis of the ethical questions raised by modern science, technological advancements and the fourth industrial revolution; to explore how to harness the speed, accuracy and power of emerging technologies in policy research and public engagement and help leaders, policymakers and the public understand the impact that these technologies will have on our economies, legal and political systems and way of life. As technology develops at an exponential pace, its benefits and harms need to be thoughtfully evaluated. Stemming from the ethical principle of “do no harm” we can ask two fundamental questions: how can we use technology to maximize benefit for society and minimize harms. In this lecture, I provide a summation collection of our book on the many areas that ethics need to be deployed proactively and mindfully in order to ensure that we build technology that has ethics embedded by design.

My Top 10 Life Lessons - Blockchainging the World
I had a great job as CEO of a fantastic company with great people on a genuine mission to improve the lives of people worldwide. In April 2018 I left to pursue the newfound passion I had discovered around Blockchain technologies and social transformation. I knew that transitioning from having a job for twenty years to not knowing what my next step was, it wouldn't be immediately clear to me what that step would be. Without planning it I spent the better part of 2018 just being out there, participating, engaging, networking, speaking and writing. Age was not going to slow me down or define me as I set out to take on a new challenge in my life. This is my story and the lessons I have learned from a pivot from Corporate CEO to Global Influencer.
