Sue Welsby is an international award winning watercolour artist. Her love of travel has taken her around the globe and, to date, has taken over 40 cruises. When she is not traveling she likes to divide her time between her homes in the USA and the United Kingdom.

Although not formally trained, Sue has taken many classes and workshops from a variety of renowned artists both in the USA and the UK. She has also been mentored for the last 8 years by multi award winning American artist Anne Abgott.

When in the UK Sue teaches locally and gives talks and demonstrations to local art groups, with the emphasis on encouraging all participants to develop their techniques and enjoy art, regardless of ability.

Sue is very outgoing, and with her great sense of humor and patience likes to ensure her classes are fun and relaxed whilst sharing her knowledge and the many tips she has acquired along her own watercolour journey.

In the USA Sue has received awards from the Florida Watercolor Society and the Southern Watercolor Society where she has achieved Signature status, exhibited in the American Watercolor Society show in New York City, Missouri Watercolor Society International Show in Barcelona, San Diego, Georgia and Louisiana Watercolor Societies . She has also won several awards in the UK at local and national level and was awarded the SAA Amateur Artist of the Year in 2018.

My classes on board are tailored to the itinerary of each cruise and specific to each port of call or destination. Typically, I provide line drawings and trace down paper to assist with each participant's drawing to allow them more time for painting and completing a picture in one session. I also teach the basics of colour application, and demonstrate different techniques.

I have instructed on a number of Saga Cruises, receiving excellent reviews and ratings on each. I have also taken over 50 cruises as a passenger, and attended many art classes on board.
