George is a dual citizen (Italian-American) and graduate of the University of Colorado where he majored in Physics and Fine Arts. He worked with Eric Bransby, a student of Thomas Hart Benton, on murals in Kansas and Illinois as well as securing his own commissions for works in Colorado and Alaska. While living in Alaska, George became fascinated with the story of the Iditarod, eventually researching and writing a screenplay of the heroic ordeal. In addition to his other pursuits, he still conducts drawing workshops based on brain research and the arts.
Fulfilling the art/science spectrum, George was part of the team that developed the first portable surgical laser and more recently he has conducted tours through Biosphere 2 - the world’s largest Earth Sciences research facility. At Biosphere 2, George described the world-class research being conducted there in terms that guests and visitors from 9 to 90 could easily understand.
For 20 years, George owned and operated Oro Creek Vineyards, where he practiced the arts of growing grapes and making wine, giving tours of his vineyard, facilities, and describing the process of wine making. Living in the high desert also gave George the opportunity to study the pristine night skies of southern Arizona, something he has shared with numerous small groups.
George has travelled to all 7 (or 8!) continents including both polar regions, and lived in Japan for 5 years where he studied Japanese history first-hand. His current project is researching the lichens in Antarctica.
