BIOGRAPHY
Patrick joined the Royal Hampshire Regiment (The Tigers) and so began his life of Exploration and Adventure.

His first posting was to Georgetown Guyana, in 1961, where his platoon helped quell the riots on Black Friday. Following this Patrick lead an expedition through the unexplored Amazon Rain Forest and was the first team to reach the 800 ft. King George VI Falls over land, then thought to be the highest in the world .While a soldier Patrick qualified as a pilot in a Tiger –moth, completed the free fall parachuting course and survived an SAS outward bound course in Norway.

He represented G.B. in NATO & CENTO rifle shooting competitions and after leaving the Army he travelled worldwide demonstrating the Singlepoint gun sight.
In Vietnam, at the height of the war, he worked closely with the New Zealand and Australian Special Forces.

He was a founding Director of Gunmark (GMK) which imported Beretta shotguns and specialised in selling shooting equipment.

He took up motor racing in Morgans and was in the team that won the 24 hour race at Snetterton. He went on to win the British Sports Car Thoroughbred Championship, in 1981. Later on in life Patrick worked with classic car Auction Houses including Coys and Bonhams.

Patrick qualified as a Trinity House Pilot. He and his wife, Caroline, a first class cook, ran a charter business on the Thames Sailing Barge Kitty and Schooner Helga in the Solent.

1, ADVENTURES IN MOTOR RACING & INVESTING IN CLASSIC CARS
(UK, France, Monaco)
After Patrick Keen left the Royal Hampshire Regiment he took up motor racing. His Commanding Officer suggested that he carried the regimental colours on his cars during his eight year racing career. In the first 24 hour race at Snetterton in his Morgan + 8, he beat the legendary Stirling Moss in his Golf GTI! He went on to win the British Sports Car Championship, out right, racing the famous Le Mans Morgan, TOK 258. Other cars he raced included the Lotus 30 (similar to the one in which Jim Clark won the Indiapolis race in America) and a Lagonda M45 that he raced at Brooklands. He has many epic stories including driving Ian Botham around Goodwood in a Morgan and taking on Eric Carlson in his Saab turbo! In conclusion he offers his advice on investing in classic cars.

2, LIFE AFLOAT ON THAMES SAILING BARGE & TOPSAIL SCHOONER HELGA
(UK Coastal Waters, France )
Patrick Keen was Captain of sailing at R.M.A. Sandhurst and has some interesting tales of racing against the Royal Naval College Dartmouth. He went on to crew for John Illingworth (the famous offshore racer) on Maid of Malham. He and his wife, Caroline, bought the Thames Sailing Barge Kitty as their first home. Later on they purchased Topsail Schooner Helga and ran the two together as a charter business. The Talk includes problems faced when winching Major General Julian Thompson (The Royal Marine Commander in the Falklands War) off the barge, An epic story of sailing the Schooner Helga in the famous round the island race, Plus other amusing stories of the ups & downs aboard these traditional wooden working boats.

3, INTERNATIONAL RIFLE SHOOTING & AN INSIGHT INTO THE VIETNAM WAR
(UK, France, Italy, Sweden,Iran, Turkey & Vietnam)
Whilst in the Army Captain Patrick Keen represented Great Britain in NATO and CENTO Rifle shooting competitions, in Europe and the Middle East. On leaving the Army Patrick helped develop the Singlepoint gun sight for military use. In Thailand Patrick presented the King with this revolutionary new gun sight and was entertained by his ADC Admiral Prince Diskul. Patrick Keen was invited by General “Tiger” The (Commander in Chief of the South Vietnamese forces) to train and demonstrate the Singlepoint gun sight. In Vietnam, at the height of the War, he also worked closely with the New Zealand and Australian Special Forces. His adventures out there included walking into a Claymore ambush, and a hair raising trip to the beach with a nurse and some refugee children during a major offensive battle. 2015 was the fortieth anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War and Patrick offers his personal insight as to the reasons why the USA had to pull out of the War.

4 MAKING OF THE JAMES BOND FILM DR NO, RIOTS IN GEORGE TOWN & ADVENTURES IN SOUTH AMERICA.

Straight from leaving Sandhurst, Patrick Keen, joined the Royal Hampshire Regiment in Jamaica where they were filming Dr No.The Talk covers his family back ground and the riots that started in George Town, Guyana on Black Friday. Patrick's illustrated and lively Talk covers the major problems his men faced on preparing for their expedition into the South American Jungle.Here they had narrow escapes with bush masters and piranhas ,while crossing dangerous rivers . He also had a hair raising escape when a cayman alligator which he thought was dead but came to life in his canoe !

5,AN EPIC EXPEDITION THROUGH THE SOUTH AMERICAN JUNGLE TO KING GEORGE V1 FALLS

Patrick Keen led a 700 mile expedition into the depths of the unexplored Amazon jungle to reach the 740 ft. King George VI Falls. Two previous expeditions from the Black Watch and Cambridge University had failed in their attempts.The Talk covers and illustrates the wide variety of wild life they encountered such as anacondas and mountain lions . He compares them with similar dangerous animals in Africa , His tale recounts how they came across indigenous Amerindians how had never seen white men before and he spent time with them as they hunted with bows and arrows and deadly blow pipes

6, SETTING UP GUNMARK, AGENT FOR BERETTA ,PYRAMIDS IN MEXICO AND GUN PRODUCTION IN BRAZIL

Patrick Keen was co-founder of Gunmark in 1972. The company (GMK) is the largest gun distributor in the UK today and is the main agent for Beretta.Beretta is e oldest family owned company in Europe ( founded in 1556). King Henry the V111 ordered gun barrels of Beretta in the sixteenth century! Patrick has some entertaining stories about hunting with the President of Beretta . He was invited by the mexican Ambassador in London to visit the ammunition factories in Mexico . From there he went on to Brazil to set up gun gun production and had several hair raising escapades with Gaucho cowboys .

7, SURVIVING AN SAS COURSE IN NORWAY AND SPORTING ADVENTURES AROUND SOUTH AMERICA

In this Talk Patrick recalls the time when on a SAS course in Norway he fell off a sheer cliff ! His early adventures learning to fly a Tiger Moth and how he dealt with his first free fall jump . Patrick continues with his adventures in South America including flying over Mount Roraima ( John Buchan based his famous book " The lost world "around this awesome mountain ), Finally he recalls the hair raising times he spent capturing cayman alligators for London Zoo.

8, CAROLINE KEEN SAILS TO CAPE HORN AND UP THE BEAGLE CHANNEL VISITING REMOTE GLACIERS

Caroline Keen crewed on Pelagic (A 55ft sailing yacht designed for exploring Antarctic conditions) for the skipper and explorer, Hamish Laird. They sailed from Ushuaia , Tierra del Fuego to the Horn and up the Beagle Channel between Argentina and Chile This Talk is well illustrated with stunning photographs of the Horn and spectacular glaciers cascading into the sea.The Talk also covers the variety of wild life they encountered including Fur seals,Magellanic penguins and Andean condors in this remote & wild tip of South America.
