BIOGRAPHY
Greg Fealy has spent 40 years studying Southeast Asia's history, politics and religion. A leading scholar of Islamic politics and culture in Indonesia, he has published extensively on both liberal and conservative expressions of Islam. He is especially interested in the ways in which religion shapes politics and social behaviour, not only in Asia but globally. Greg is emeritus professor at the Australian National University and has taught at Johns Hopkins University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He was also an intelligence analyst for the Australian government prior to his academic career. He was awarded an Order of Australia (AM) in 2022 for services to Australia-Indonesia relations. He appears regularly in the Australian and international media commenting on Australian and Southeast Asian affairs.
