Easa Ali

Easa’s paintings have been accepted by the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour and exhibited at the Mall Galleries, London. His work has been accepted by the Royal Academy. He paints various subjects and uses different media. He is a keen and enthusiastic art tutor and likes to encourage and assist people. Brenda's outgoing personality and the ability to develop an immediate rapport with others helps to make her sessions fun and enjoyable. Her unique style represents an opportunity to offer something new and different that will impress cruise passengers and encourage them to rebook.

Barbara has been painting with watercolours, oils and acrylics for many years. Her work is in collections around the world. She has held several solo exhibitions and has participated in group exhibitions. She has had work selected by the WSSA, where she received a “Best on Show” accolade. Barbara is a member of the Ulster Watercolour Society. As an Art Instructor on cruise ships, Barbara specialises in teaching in Watercolour, and introduces mixed media.

Anne Bewsey

Anne won the ‘Art Prize’ at school most years and always knew she would paint when there was space in her life. She has demonstrated ‘Caran D’ache art products to Art Societies in Southern England for a long time. Anne has taught Watercolour painting to passengers on cruise ships for the past eight years. An accomplished artist she is competent in all media including watercolour, pastel, oils, acrylic and pencil and exhibits her paintings regularly. Anne feels her most important aim is for passengers to enjoy the classes, enriching their cruise and having fun painting.

Isabel was born in 1940, during the Sheffield Blitz. Her paternal Grandfather was a Commercial Artist, specialising in large-scale work. She subsequently taught Art at Beighton and Norfolk Park Secondary Schools followed by a part time adult education post teaching Textiles and Machine Embroidery. She now teaches Watercolour, Acrylics and Creative Needlework to adults, and has been responsible for organising several community artwork projects throughout Sheffield. Her most recent venture has been as an Art Tutor on Cruise Ships.

Heather Bowring

Heather is a self taught artist. Her unique style of tactile painting has been acknowledged as such by the Tate Modern, who commissioned her to make a painting for their Touch Tours collection. Other commissions include the Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth, who asked her to make a tactile copy of a 16th century painting of the Mary Rose ship. Heather enjoys creating different styles of painting including miniatures, portraits and contemporary works. In particular she likes to paint stories and is inspired by radio, text and dialogue of everyday life.

Born in the Norfolk town of Great Yarmouth, David went to sea in 1965, joining Ellerman Lines as Deck Cadet. Gaining his Second Mate’s Certificate in 1969 he sailed in a variety of cargo and passenger vessels until 1972 when he joined the British Antarctic Survey, gaining his Masters’ certificate in 1976. More recently he has lectured to ships’ Masters and Officers at the Maritime Studies department of Lowestoft College. Now retired from nautical education he is in demand as a cruiseship lecturer on maritime history.

Tracey Cattana is an educator (Wollongong University, Australia) and an Artist with many exhibitions under her belt. She has spent many years travelling overseas visiting every art gallery imaginable big and small. Her favourite artists span from Australian Indigenous Art and Brett Whitely to the genius she has a soft spot for the once misunderstood and beautiful Vincent Van Gogh. After studying at Loughborough University and Brighton School of Art, Jonathan taught in a number of schools in Sussex and Essex. Later in his career as an Art Lecturer he headed an Art Team within the Dept. of Education at Anglia Ruskin University and was awarded an Ofsted 1 grade by Inspectors for his Postgraduate Teacher Training Course. He has much to offer in terms of expertise and knowledge of Art and will be able to encourage interested passengers to produce their personal best through stimulating teaching. Subject matter will derive from the different countries visited.

Tony Cowlishaw

Tony Cowlishaw is an established professional artist based in Nottingham who has exhibited at Nottingham Castle Museum and Art Gallery and at the University of Nottingham Art Gallery. Lawrence is an artist and retired art teacher who was born in Sunderland and was educated at St. Aiden's Grammar School. At the age of 16 he enrolled at the local Art College, and graduated in Fine Art four years later, also gaining a B.A. in History of Art in 1985. His first teaching post was in a secondary school in Sunderland, and he has taught for over 40 years in both the state and private sectors, being Head of Art and Design in three schools. Lawrence retired from adult teaching in 2005 but continues to teach painting and art history to both enthusiastic beginners and experienced amateurs.

Hilary has recently retired from a long and successful career in secondary and adult art education. She spends the summer months running and teaching painting holidays with her husband in northern France. She focuses on painting using watercolour, mixed media (collage) and textiles. His specialist areas are watercolour, pen and ink, drawing, acrylics, oils. Mike's courses cover work for the beginner to the more skilled artist and he will often be seen working on board ship or at a destination. He has been working on cruise ships regularly since 2005, both as art tutor and Art Historian lecturer.

Thea has been teaching beginners watercolour painting to large and small groups in Southern Spain and in and around her home in Norwich. After many years teaching in Canada, she retired to her native England and enjoys the freedom to paint works both large and small. Born in Sunderland, Co Durham in 1957, Colin has lived in Dunfermline, Fife since 2004. Having always had an interest in art since early school years, Colin studied art to Advanced level and, later, part-time college. Colin pursued a career in Financial Services for 38 years, painting in his spare time. He took early retirement in 2013 to concentrate on painting full time. Colin has been fortunate to have studied with renowned oil painter Ken Howard RA OBE, also internationally known watercolourists Joseph Zbukvic and Alvaro Castagnet. Colin writes articles for Leisure Painter magazine and is a watercolour instructor on cruise ships.

Magda was born and educated in Poland, Warsaw and studied at Chelsea School of Art and The Slade School of Fine Art. She was among the fortunate ones to be taught by Gowing, Coldstream and Uglow. She is a practicing artist and an experienced teacher. She taught at schools, art schools and art colleges including RCA. Since 2012 Kozarzewska has been teaching watercolour painting on ships. She also works as a house guide at Blenheim Palace and an assistant custodian at the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford. Her work has been exhibited at national and commercial galleries and museums in the UK and Europe.

Born in Winchester, Melissa is the daughter of portrait painter and official war artist the late William Dring RA. RWS. She trained at Winchester School of Art and at the Royal Academy Schools London, and as a Police Forensic Artist by the FBI in USA. She has been an exhibiting member of the Pastel Society UK for 35 years, showing her portrait work in the annual exhibitions at the Mall Galleries, London. She combines a successful career as a portrait painter with that of a freelance police forensic artist. She has had 30 years experience of serving regional forces throughout the UK.

John Scott Martin

Born in Nottinghamshire and trained at the Nottingham College of Art in the 60's, John wanted to study Fine Art, but was pressed into a graphics course. After a long career in graphics, art direction, printing and photography he returned to his first love painting some fifteen years ago. In the last ten years John has developed an additional source of inspiration, sea, sail and ships, and in particular, classic yachts. He uses collage, acrylic and pastel to communicate his own personal impressions of light, atmosphere, weather.

Since his return to the UK he has featured in a number of magazines, and produced limited edition prints for the MOD, Christmas Cards and local Kent scenes. Hildegarde was born on the edge of the Kalahari Desert, South Africa. She studied Social Science at the University of the Orange Free State, but has always been passionately involved in painting. Her work is much influenced by her roots and she brings warmth and vibrancy into her paintings. Valerie was born and raised in Dublin. She was a scholarship student in the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. She taught within the Irish secondary school system for over twenty years. Valerie is a member of the Watercolour Society of Ireland, the Dublin Painting and Sketching Club, and Plein Eire. She works in watercolours and oils. She works in mostly en plein air when the weather permits, and in the winter she paints mostly in a studio. Valerie’s work has been exhibited in the Royal Hibernian Academy, and in exhibitions throughout Ireland. In 2016, Valerie won the top award in the Art in the Open festival, Wexford, the biggest plein air festival in Europe.

Working in watercolour, oils and acrylics he also paints landscapes and seascapes in a modern semi-abstract style, becoming a finalist in The National Open Art Competition in 2009. He has been running art classes for the past seven years.

Jenni White hails from North Yorkshire, where her first career was in the Hotel business, spending many happy years in the business involved in Event and Conference organising. This followed a career in Sales and Marketing which allowed much time for travel and working and meeting with people. Always having a creative flair, good with colours and people focused she trained in Colour and Style during the late 80's. Jenni loves the opportunity to teach art and speak about her passions aboard cruise ships.

Edwin (Eddy) Williams

Edwin is a fully qualified Engineer, Quality Assurance Manager and also holds a degree in Human Resource Management, specialising in Learning and Devolpment. Over the last 25 years he feels privileged to have taught many people the delight of watercolour, often combining the teaching with the raising of money for several charitable causes that are close to his heart. He encourages his students to enjoy painting what they see, in a manner that they are comfortable with. He really believes that painting in watercolour inspires people to see both themselves and the world in a refreshingly new way.

Pauline Williams

Pauline studied art at St. Helens College of Art and at The University of Wales in Cardiff; She also has a Post Graduate teaching qualification from the University of Newport. Her art is a representation of life from her perspective. She has been painting and drawing from life, recording places, events and people wherever she goes. She especially enjoys drawing musicians whilst they play. Pauline also teaches drawing and painting, mostly to adults, specializing in portraiture and life-drawing.

Peter Woolley

Peter Woolley has been a professional watercolour artist since 1986. He regularly exhibits at major art shows, works with Art Societies across the UK, and is the author of 2 books on the subject. The unique, loose style he teaches is based on pure watercolour principles. He is able to provide painting classes that cover all the core skills and techniques of pure watercolour, using projects appropriate to the cruise itinerary. On longer cruises, he is able to expand upon that, and wherever possible, provide a structured series of classes that equates to a complete watercolour course.
